DTC Holliston —Who We Are

At our January meeting we were asked to come up with a label for how we see ourselves in a political light. Here are the answers of the group.

I am a socially liberal and fiscally tolerant Democrat.
I am a pragmatic idealist.
I am an engaged constructive animal activist.
I am more progressive as time goes on.
I am a pluralist fond of compromise and conversation.
I am a bleeding heart liberal idealist Democrat who is still learning and defining myself.
I am a hopeful idealist.
I am a community-focused "rising tide" advocate.
I am a progressive immigrant.
I am a social progressive.
I am a pragmatic realist liberal Democrat.
I am a stubborn and defiant optimist.
I am a Democratic Values Applications Worker.
I am a common sense activist.
I am an analytical liberal.
I am an argumentative conciliator.
I am a sincere leftist.
I am an egalitarian Golden Rule addict.
I am a pragmatic progressive.
I am a looney lefty.

As you can see, Democrats have all shapes and sizes. This is what makes us interesting. There is room at our table for all kinds of people and their ideas...no matter how you label yourself. Jump in!

HollistonDems.Com is the site for The Holliston Democratic Town Committee. On this site you can find useful information on upcoming meetings and special events the Holliston DTC is sponsoring, and you can connect to issues and advocacy resources on matters of local, regional and even global concern.

This is a blog about community, our community—

Holliston, Massachusetts.

Meetings are open to the public and we encourage people who are interested in getting involved in local political action to attend. Once you have attended two meetings, as a registered Democrat, you are eligible for election to become a full voting member of the committee. If you are registered unenrolled/ independent voter and would like to participate in our actions you can do this without full voting privileges.

We are looking to grow our committee and find our voice in Holliston and are interested in meeting new people who are ready to lend a hand.

Come join in

Join the conversation and work together to make our community stronger.

We encourage citizens to register, to vote, to work for the candidates they support and to serve on local boards and committees by running for office or volunteering. We advocate for the causes and concerns that matter to us locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.

We work at issues education and public awareness, sponsoring candidates debates and open forums, writing editorials, presenting information at public meetings and hearings. We work towards government that is fair and transparent in its dealings with the public.

We elect delegates to represent the principles of the Democratic Party as they start from our community and resonate to the state and national level.

We are a community of activists and friends. We are caring and engaged citizens.

We are Holliston Democrats.

Holliston Democrats ... a responsible community

A responsible community that examines issues and offers solutions with a sense of their meaning and real implication for the future;

A responsible community that encourages and enables active citizenship by listening and learning while leading;

A responsible community that understands today's issues are complex and require long-term commitment, thoughtful and flexible approaches, energy and effort;

A responsible community that believes today's challenges are best met by working together, with an inclusive and humane sense of the common good;

After all, through our community —we believe we all have something at stake in each other!
